Infosec, Salary, and Money – What really determines your salary?
Although money certainly isn’t everything, we’ll cover salary models (this generally shocks people), and at least three ways infosec professionals can make fortunes. It’s not easy but it’s not rocket science either. In fact these techniques are quite simple.

I’ve been asked for more on bootstrapping, and The Bootstrappers Bible is hard to beat. I’ve read this probably a dozen times, seriously, and usually get something new from it every time.
Mindset and Success – Originally this section on “Mindset and Success” was very much an experiment. I didn’t know if I would like it or if anyone else would like it either, but it’s been well received.

Chances are if you are reading this, you are in infosec. Infosec has become an amazingly broad field. What a mobile device forensics investigator does is very different than what a CISO does or a cryptoanalyst does. The “Geek Skills” are at least as dissimilar as they are similar.

We can all make serious moves towards Rock Star!
Geek will only get you so far . . . .
And we all need to keep our geek skills current and often grow them.
But there are other “core competencies” – things that matter as a professional, that make you more effective, which make you happy.
The Infosec Rock Star Blueprint will be delivered as 5 weeks of online sessions from the weeks of January 16th to February 20th (you can watch the Infosec Rock Star videos multiple times!), together with additional interactive sessions.
We have a break between week 3 and week 4 (The week starting January 30th- February 5th) because “life happens” and it will give anyone who has fallen a little behind a chance to catch up. Don’t worry: if you are up to date we WILL have additional bonus material that week.
Each week there will be 1-2 hours of recorded content, not including optional bonus material. There will be A LOT of bonus material. The main content is divided into easy to digest 10-20 minute videos.
Of course sometimes “life happens” and a few people may fall behind. That’s OK – I’ve planned for that! The last “official” opportunity to call in and talk will be after the main material has been completed, sometime after the week of July 11th – and I know additional questions, comments, and concerns will arise. Of course you can also contact me a month later, 5 years later, etc. I’m here to help however I can.
There will also be homework and it will require thinking and writing things down. Doing the homework will be valuable as will be reviewing the homework and maybe updating it later. No, it’s not graded and you do not have to hand it in!
Again, there will be apple opportunity to interact and ask questions using multiple modalities, whether email, an online group, live webinars, etc.
This WILL be a SMALL class!
Only a few people will be allowed in so that I can answer any and all questions, as well as review and help with homework for those that wish.
With my schedule, I may not repeat this again soon. Look like I’ll be in 3+ continents during this class, which is about normal (and fun!) for me.

What is The Infosec Rock Star Blueprint?
A 5+ week program focusing on developing the non-technical rock star skills needed to excel in infosec.
We have 5 sets of modules that will be released weekly starting January 17th, and plenty of opportunities for interactivity both during and beyond that time frame.
The timing is not quite right for me. When will the next one be?
Just sign up. Everything will be recorded. The material will be online for at least 6 months!
There never is a “right” time – there is always something else going on.
What days and times is it?
The main content will be a series of recorded presentations – people loved this last time especially with the time zone differences. The first time we had people waking up at 3AM and other staying up past midnight. We always have a very international audience! So we will prerecord the main content and have PLENTY of opportunities to interact.

We have a significant interactive portion. This includes online sessions, an online group, and more. I even got together with people in 3 different continents during the last class. And I’m open to suggestions here – no one has suggested smoke signals or carrier pigeon, but someone did joke about Morse code (little did they know but I know the code fairly well!).

What if I fall behind?
Look, life happens, we know that, which is why interactivit.y will continue beyond the 6 weeks and the material will be online for at least 6 months.
Will there be time for questions?
Yes, including that I’ll be asking actively asking people what specific questions they have on various topics and also asking if we missed anything.
We will also have interactive sessions based on exactly what works for participants, including the ability to call in and talk directly to me.
Are you covering XXYYZ?

If there is a topic people are interested in that is not covered initially, and enough interest, we’ll have a follow on session to cover it. If it’s something I am not an expert it, well, I’ll simply go find and interview experts on the topic, just as I have been doing all along with the Infosec Rock Star Project.
If we need an additional session to cover more material, we will add one!

Why are you doing this?
It’s going to be fun, people keep asking me too, and there will be massive value too!
And I ALWAYS learn a lot also from participants in my classes.
What about this “homework” thing?
There will be written exercises. No, you do not need to “hand them in” and they are certainly not graded. You can share if you would like. For most exercises there is absolutely no right or wrong, but doing the exercises will have massive value. You will need to think!
Is it right for me?
I’d suggest you read the ebook and watch the videos to decide.
This is designed primarily for people who are somewhere from Stable (from Video 3: “At the Stable level, you’ve got a good job. Hopefully you like it, or at least most parts. It pays well. If you lose it, you can probably find another one but there may be a lot of effort involved”) to Authority (again from Video 3:”An Authority is a widely regarded and respected expert and in additional has innovative ideas and opinions”).
If you are barely surviving or are a Rock Star already, you will probably find value here but you aren’t right in the bullseye the material is designed for.
Is there a Guarantee?
Obviously everyone should be happy. You get a full 30 days to check out the course, meaning you can take the majority of it, and 100% money back if it’s not for you.
Can I be an Infosec Rock Star?
I can promise to teach you Rock Star skills and help you move towards Rock Star. I believe everyone CAN move towards Rock Star, and being awesome, amazingly successful, and having a fantastic time are an ongoing progression in life. Rock Star and Rock Stars are not static!
Just passively watching and taking no action will lead to limited results of course – that is no surprise.
